Equipment review: Canon EOS 40D

Before reading this review please read my general introduction to reviews here

I bought the 40D in January 2008 and haven't regretted this despite the street price falling by £100 since. It has replaced the 350D for almost all activities suited to a cropped sensor camera, and has lots going for it, but the 5D remains my camera of choice despite being older technology.

It is hard not to like the 40D due to its fantastic viewfinder, large LCD screen, fast frame rate and very quiet shutter. In size it is very similar to the 5D and does make a good companion as they use the same batteries. Therefore the 350D is relegated to duties where I want better quality than a point & shoot but don't want to risk/ carry a larger camera.
