Equipment review: Canon PowerShot G9

The G9 is a very recent purchase and I have yet to fully assess it, but initial impressions are good. It feels much more solid than the IXUS 850 IS and its image quality is at least as good. Battery life is excellent (it uses the same battery as the 350D), and it has a huge LCD screen on the back.
Much has been made of its ability to shoot RAW files, but I have decided not to do that. JPGS direct from the camera look fine with good colour, though the noise does ramp up quickly at higher ISOs.
